VERY RARE HISTORIC SUPER TOURING CAR FROM THE GOLDEN ERA, SUPERB HISTORY, NASTCC CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER

This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a very famous race car with exceptional history from the golden era of super touring cars when they were built like F1 cars by factory teams with no regards to budgets. Similar ready to race cars are appreciating rapidly and currently priced in the £100,000-150,000 bracket. this car offers an exciting opportunity as it’s incomplete and in need of complete rebuild if it was to go back on the track. It should be eligible for the HSCC super touring class, which is very prestigious with many famous drivers competing at events like the Silverstone Classic. Also a likely candidate for high profile events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Please don’t confuse this with later touring cars which were modified production based, this car was purpose built from scratch at a cost of millions of dollars by Dodge/Chrysler in association with Pacwest and Reynard.

This car finished runner up in the 1996 NASTCC in its first year with David Donohue, then totally dominated and won the championship outright the following year. It was then sold to Thomas Engstrom who competed with it in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. It is still in those original Mobil 1 colours. This car is featured throughout the two NASTCC yearbooks seen in the photo, both signed by Donohue. It’s also featured in its current STCC scheme in and on the cover of the STCC computer game. Also included are copies of the original FIA homologation papers and component drawings by Reynard racing.

Please study the photos to see what is included. The quality of the structural cage, seam bracing etc. shows the build quality, everything on this car is bespoke, the build and development of this car is discussed in depth in the yearbooks. Following retirement from racing it was put into storage then used as a show car. It is incomplete, NO engine but I have found a couple had been offered for sale asking around $10,000. It does come with the majority of the incredibly rare and valuable original X-Trac sequential super touring gearbox, engine sub-frame, steering rack, complete corners with twin AP calipers per wheel front and single rear, Penske remote reservoir dampers, centre-lock hubs with magnesium wheels, fuel cell, interior carbon parts, Tilton CNC pedals, PI research dash, Lifeline quick release boss to wheel, seat and belts FIA approved & in date until 2020. Steering column just for show use. Front windscreen is cracked due to someone putting something heavy on it, other windows are Perspex, no rear screen.

Offered at an incredible price, there won’t be another opportunity to buy anything like this for anything close to this price but bear in mind it is sold strictly as is for complete restoration or show purposes only.

Also comes with a spare set of original forged magnesium wheels, spare wishbones, brake pads, hoses.
